Process

The landscape approach to sustainable tourism consist of five main steps:

  1. extensive landscape quality and problem analyses;
  2. construction of several spatial scenarios on a regional scale for tourism developments in the future;
  3. a workshop with local stakeholders to rate the scenarios and gain insights in local demands for the future spatial developments;
  4. detailed designs on representative locations which serves as examples for sustainable tourism developments;
  5. a set of guidelines for sustainable tourism developments.

All these steps are not only described in text, but also richly illustrated in maps, drawings and Photoshop montages. In the process the opinions of the local stakeholders, such as the  tourism board, the municipality and local entrepreneurs, is crucial for developing a successful plan.
